Self-hosted edition
Run BucketDesk in your AWS account or on your own servers.
The whole app runs where you put it. It is reached only by people on your network, it opens connections only to your own AWS account, and your files stay in your S3 buckets.
Launch a stack in your account
One CloudFormation stack creates a t4g.large instance from the BucketDesk image. Open the address it gives you and start the trial from the Licence page.
- Runs in the Region you pick
- 10 operators, no card
- Keep it with a licence after the trial
Run it on a Docker host
Docker Compose files, the AWS access template and the install guide. One command to start, one command to update.
- Linux, Docker, 2 vCPU, 4 GB
- Outbound HTTPS to AWS only
- Same licence as the AWS path

Why now
Exploits now arrive faster than patch windows.
Automated tooling finds and uses newly disclosed vulnerabilities within hours. A server that only your network can reach gives you the time to update on your own schedule. Read the figures behind this.
- Reached from your network
- The app answers on the DNS names you give it inside your network, the same way your other internal systems do.
- Outbound only
- The server opens HTTPS connections to AWS in your account. A proxy, VPN, Direct Connect or VPC endpoints all work.
- Fixes the day they ship
- Every release goes to the public image and the install kit the same day. Updating is one command.
How it reaches AWS
Your network, your AWS account, and two calls you start.
- Your networkStaff open the app in a browser on DNS names inside your network.
- BucketDesk serverRuns as a scoped IAM role in your account. Verifies the licence with a public key.
- Your AWS accountS3 buckets, the IAM role, and Batch jobs that write their progress to a scratch bucket.
app.bucketdesk.com: 1 call when you start a trial · 1 call when you buy a licence · 0 otherwise

What ships
Every release, including security fixes, is published to the public image and the install kit on the day it ships, and updating is one command, with or without a licence.
- Release notes with every release.
- Database changes run when the app starts.
- Logs written to a folder your own tools can collect.
- Offline access when the office loses its connection.
Questions
Before you install.
Can I keep running after the licence lapses?
Yes. After a paid licence expires everything keeps working for 30 days. After that the install falls to the free plan until a renewed licence is pasted. The owner is emailed 30, 7 and 1 days before expiry.
What does the server send to BucketDesk?
Two requests, both started by you: one to start the trial, with your workspace name and the email of the owner, and one when you buy a licence. The licence is verified on your server with a public key, so daily use makes no call to BucketDesk.
Can I move between AWS and my own servers?
Yes. A paid licence names your AWS account ids or your AWS Organization id and works on any number of servers in those accounts. Paste the same licence on the new install.
What happens when the office loses its internet connection?
Files the server has saved keep opening, pinned folders stay available, and new uploads wait on the server and go to S3 when the connection is back.
